Standard Rates Maddison Nine And Kinsky Four, So Appraisal Panel Moves Both To Second Monitor

The Evening Standard's Sam Tabuteau marked James Maddison 9 and Antonin Kinsky 4 after Tottenham's 3-1 win over Coventry, and an office panel has convened to review them, with the kettle on.
A review panel at a North London office has begun a formal appraisal of the Evening Standard's player ratings from Monday night, after a Tottenham man on the third floor noticed that two of the marks sat a long way apart.
The ratings, compiled by Sam Tabuteau at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, gave James Maddison a 9 and Antonin Kinsky a 4 following Spurs' 3-1 win over Coventry, their first league victory of the season. The panel has described the gap between them as five whole marks.
Proceedings opened at 9:15am, when the chair asked everyone to confirm they could see the screen. Two could. A third said he would look on his phone.
I'm not saying the nine is wrong. I'm saying I'd like to see the working.
The working, the panel was told, consisted of a paragraph per player. Maddison's runs to "It just had to be him". Kinsky's runs to a few uncertain moments early on, followed by what the Standard called "had to do better" on Coventry's equaliser.
The panel then dragged both ratings onto the second monitor so that they could be compared side by side. This took eleven minutes and one restart, after the monitor was found to be set to the wrong input.
A motion to also review the 8s awarded to Archie Gray, Sandro Tonali, Mohammed Kudus and Ben Davies was carried, then deferred, on the grounds that nobody had brought a pen.
The panel will reconvene on Thursday. The man from the third floor has asked for the minutes to record that he said nine.
