Spurs Web reports that Tottenham may have accidentally sold Pape Sarr to Juventus on a loan with a £22.3m obligation to buy, after he played all 90 minutes of a 2-1 Europa League win at Celta Vigo, and the club has not been asked whether it was an accident.

A Tottenham man spent Saturday morning on the forecourt of the stadium turning out every pocket he owns, after a report suggested the club may have accidentally sold something of value.

The report, published by Spurs Web, states that Pape Sarr joined Juventus late in the summer window on an initial loan, with a £22.3m obligation to buy next summer, triggered if the midfielder plays 50 per cent of the club's matches this season.

The Herald understands the headline used the word accidentally, and that the word appears nowhere in the article beneath it.

If they can lose a midfielder by mistake, I'm not taking chances with my keys.

The man laid his findings in a row on the paving: a bus pass, a single mint, a receipt for a pasty, and a key he could not immediately place. He confirmed that, as of 10:40am, nothing of £22.3m had been sold.

The cause for concern, he explained, was Thursday night in Spain, where Sarr played all 90 minutes of a 2-1 Europa League win over Celta Vigo, completed five interceptions and received a 7.9 out of 10 from FotMob. Gazzetta dello Sport called him a possible crucial figure.

He was also aware that Randal Kolo Muani scored the stoppage-time winner, his third of the season, and had begun checking the inside pocket of his coat for him as well.

He has since put everything back, in a different order.
