Football Insider reports that Tottenham will not sanction a sale of Micky van de Ven to Liverpool, Manchester United or anyone else in 2027, and that the club captain's contract runs until 2031.

A Tottenham man at a kitchen table on Wednesday morning learned that Micky van de Ven is not for sale, and then learned it again, in four separate places, before the kettle had finished.

The original report came from Football Insider, which stated that Tottenham will not sanction a sale of the captain to Liverpool, Manchester United or anyone else in 2027. It noted that he signed a contract until 2031 in August and has been made club captain.

The Herald understands the second website described the club as relaxed. The third described them as completely relaxed. By 7:40am, a fourth had the club entirely immovable, a position it reached without consulting the club.

That's four places now. Nobody's said anything different, so it must be solid.

The Herald audited all four reports and found the number of facts unchanged at two, the contract and the armband. The number of adjectives rose across the same period from one to five.

One page concluded with the words case closed, which the man read aloud to an empty kitchen, and then again, more slowly, to the toaster.

A fifth website is understood to be preparing the same story under a more urgent headline, with the contract moved higher up.

He has put the phone down and picked it up again.
