Simons Harvard Course Sends Season Ticket Holder To Forecourt With School Desk And Flask
Desmond Parry · Chief Football Correspondent · Reading time: one pint
Xavi Simons, who has been out since rupturing a knee ligament in April, has enrolled on Harvard's online Crossover into Business programme, and a Tottenham man has taken the news to mean applications are open.
A Tottenham man arrived at the stadium forecourt at 8:40am on Thursday carrying a school desk, a flask and a lever arch file, and announced that he was beginning his placement.
The cause was the news that Xavi Simons, the 23-year-old Netherlands midfielder, has enrolled on Harvard's Crossover into Business programme while recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in April. The course is online and pairs athletes with Harvard MBA students to work through practical case studies.
The Herald understands the man read the words pairs athletes with MBA students at approximately 7:15am and stopped at the word pairs. He did not read the word online.
It says tailored for professional athletes. I've been to eleven away games this season. Work it out.
He has set the desk facing the main gates, which he describes as the faculty, and has placed the flask to his right, where a laptop would be if he owned one he trusted near a puddle.
Our correspondent asked who his mentor was. The man indicated a steward at the far turnstile, who was on the phone, and who the Herald can confirm has not been told.
The programme has previously been taken up by players from the NBA, NFL and tennis, and this summer by Eduardo Camavinga, a point the man raised unprompted as precedent. Sir Alex Ferguson's long-term teaching position at the university in 2014 was cited as the reciprocal arrangement.
By noon he had completed what he called the first case study, on the question of whether the megastore should open on non-match days. His finding was that it already does.
