Xavi Simons has posted Instagram footage of solo passing and dribbling drills as he recovers from a ruptured right ACL, the Evening Standard reports, and he will play no part against Coventry on Monday.

A Tottenham man has taken up solo training on the grass verge outside the stadium, following the news that Xavi Simons has returned to the grass to work on his own.

The Herald understands the man watched the footage, in which Simons completes passing and dribbling drills in full training gear, at 7.40am, and had his trainers laced by eight.

Simons, who ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in April's win over Wolves, is recovering in the United States and is not expected to be fit for a while yet. The man has taken this as a sign that the verge is available.

He's on the grass, so I'm on the grass. That's the milestone. You can't skip the milestone.

Our correspondent observed the session for forty minutes. It consisted of a short pass to a cone, a longer pass to a second cone, and a dribble of approximately three and a half yards around a litter bin that the man describes as the defender.

Asked about his own knee, the man said it was monitoring well and that he had moved on from isolated gym and rehab work, which on inspection meant a stool in his kitchen. Medical staff were not consulted, and none were present.

The man confirmed he will take no part in the Coventry game on Monday evening, being unavailable for selection. He will be holding his own return to team-mates back until the weekend, when his brother-in-law is free.

The drain remains a concern.
