Kulusevski False Nine Idea Sends Season Ticket Holder To Forecourt To Stand Between Two Bollards
Clive Ottaway · Injury Correspondent · Reading time: one pint
A Spurs website says Dejan Kulusevski, out for eighteen months and tentatively expected back in November, could play as a false nine, with Tottenham having scored three goals in six league games.
A Tottenham season ticket holder spent Thursday afternoon standing in the gap between two bollards on the stadium forecourt, having read that Dejan Kulusevski could be used as a false nine.
The suggestion appeared on a Spurs website following the 1-1 draw with Manchester United, in which Spurs created several chances, scored once, and remain without a league win after six matches. The website holds that if the No. 9 position continues to produce little, Kulusevski becomes "an alternative worth thinking about".
The man arrived shortly after ten. There was no fixture, no steward and no one else on the forecourt. He walked to the midpoint of the two bollards, turned slightly side-on, and has not been seen to leave it, other than to drop deep towards a bin.
He's not a nine and he's not a ten. That's the whole point. I'm just trying to feel where the gap is.
The Herald notes that Kulusevski is tentatively expected back in November, after eighteen months out, and is not expected to start full games for a while. The man has accounted for this by standing for twelve minutes at a time and then sitting on the kerb.
He is also aware that Roberto De Zerbi has told reporters he mostly sees Kulusevski as an attacking midfielder. The man says he is covering that too, from the kerb, and that it is understood to be the same kerb.
Our correspondent counted the clear chances created on the forecourt during the afternoon. There was one, for a pigeon, and it was taken.
The bollards have not yet been consulted.
