Football Insider reports Tottenham are in a strong position to sign Antonio Rudiger from Real Madrid, a report which also says the defender is 33.

A Tottenham season ticket holder has adopted a sprinter's crouch on the forecourt of the stadium, following a Football Insider report that Spurs are "poised to make their move if the opportunity arises" for Antonio Rudiger.

The report, published on Wednesday, says the 33-year-old Germany international's future at Real Madrid is uncertain and that Spurs are in a strong position. It does not say when the opportunity will arise.

The Herald understands the man took up his stance at 9:40am on a non-match day, hands flat on the concrete, one knee forward, facing the away turnstiles, which he regards as the nearest thing to a track.

They said poised. You can't be poised standing up. Poised is this.

A passing cyclist asked whether he was all right and was told he was monitoring the situation. The cyclist did not pursue it.

The report adds that Spurs would need to consider Rudiger's wages and the overall financial implications before making a formal approach. The man has addressed this by placing a flask beside his left hand, which he describes as a contingency.

The report also notes that Spurs could face competition from other clubs. He has accordingly left a gap at his shoulder for any rivals who arrive.

By mid-afternoon the opportunity had not arisen, and the man was understood to have shifted his weight once, as a precaution.

He remains in position.
