O Jogo reports, as relayed by Sport Witness, that Souza has shown real hunger on loan at Porto, where he has yet to play a competitive game, and the sandwiches are cheese and pickle.
A Tottenham season ticket holder arrived outside the stadium at 10.15am on Tuesday carrying a foil parcel, after reading that Souza has shown "real hunger" at Porto.
The phrase originates with O Jogo, was relayed by Sport Witness, and reached the man via Spurs Web, which presented it as a buzzword Tottenham will love. He has taken it as a welfare matter.
They've said hungry. Nobody's said he's eaten. I've done two rounds, cheese and pickle, and a banana in case.
The stadium was closed. There was no match, no visible staff and one gull. The man placed the parcel on a low wall near the main gates, set a flask beside it, and stood in the posture of someone expecting a handover.
Our correspondent pointed out that Souza is on loan at Porto, a different country, and that he impressed in Friday's friendly against Deportivo La Coruña. The man said this was precisely the concern, and that a young man cannot live on a friendly.
The same report says the left-back has "embraced the process with great commitment". The man understood this to mean the process is ongoing and has brought a second flask.
Record separately quotes a former coach, Orlando Ribeiro, as saying Souza is better in the attacking phase. The man has accordingly cut a third round, on the grounds that attack is where he is strongest.
The gull has taken the banana.
