Football finance expert Kieran Maguire's revenue-adjusted list, reported by Spurs Web, places Ruel Fox at £88.6m, ahead of Savio at £85m, with Sandro Tonali on top at £100m.

A North London father of two has spent the morning outside the stadium recalculating the price of a pasty he bought in 1995, after learning that Ruel Fox is now officially worth more than Savio.

The Herald understands the man read the Spurs Web report over breakfast. It sets out Kieran Maguire's list of Tottenham's most expensive signings, adjusted for the growth in Premier League revenue, in which Sandro Tonali tops the table at £100m and Fox appears fourth at £88.6m.

Savio, signed from Manchester City, sits seventh at £85m, one place below Mateus Fernandes. Three of the club's seven most expensive signings, the report notes, were completed in the recent transfer window.

The man did not dwell on the summer. He dwelt on 1995/96, the season Fox arrived from West Ham, and on a pasty he purchased on a Saturday that year for £1.40, which he has kept in his mind ever since.

If a winger can go up like that, a pasty can go up like that. I want it adjusted for revenue. I'll take a receipt.

He has so far approached the megastore, a turnstile and a man in a hi-vis jacket, who confirmed the pasty is not a registered signing and has not been since it was eaten.

The list also records that Chris Armstrong cost £94.9m in the same season, a figure the man has described as encouraging for anyone who was there.

He is currently working out what the programme was worth.
