Sky Sports Asks Whether Marmoush Second Goal Stands, So Supporter Pitches Gazebo Review Area Outside Stadium
Desmond Parry · Chief Football Correspondent · Reading time: a half
Sky Sports has asked whether Omar Marmoush's second goal in Tottenham's win over Coventry should have been disallowed, and a season ticket holder has answered by erecting a gazebo with one chair.
A Tottenham season ticket holder has established an independent review of Omar Marmoush's second goal against Coventry, after Sky Sports asked whether it should have been disallowed.
The review is being conducted from a three-metre gazebo pitched on the forecourt at 8.15am on a day on which no football is taking place and no official is expected.
The Herald understands the supporter read the headline once, took it to be a question addressed to him personally, and left the house without finishing his tea.
They've asked. Somebody has to go and look.
He then walked from the gazebo to the turnstile, put a hand to his ear for eleven seconds, and walked back, a procedure he described as protocol.
The chair inside the gazebo has been left empty throughout, on the grounds that the verdict is not yet ready. A passing steward confirmed that the goal has been scored, that the win stands, and that nobody had asked him anything.
By mid-morning the supporter had completed four full reviews, each from a slightly different angle on the same paving slab, and reached a different conclusion at each, which he is treating as thoroughness.
The kettle is on.
