Supporter Chalks 2-2 On Forecourt After Five Games Preview Predicts Man United Draw And Defends It Against Rain

A match preview on a Spurs news site picked five fixtures to define Tottenham's season and predicted a 2-2 draw at Manchester United, with the club winless and bottom of the Premier League after five games.

A Tottenham man spent the morning on the forecourt of the stadium, chalking a 2-2 scoreline onto the paving and standing over it, after a preview of the club's next five games predicted exactly that result at Old Trafford.

The preview, published on a Spurs news site, notes that the club remains winless after five matches and sits bottom of the Premier League with two points. It describes the coming month as one that could make or break the season. The man read the second part and stopped reading.

It says make or break. Somebody has to be here for the break.

The Herald understands the fixture is not until 5.30pm, is in Manchester, and is some distance from the forecourt, a point put to him twice by a member of the ground staff who was carrying a bin.

The preview names four further games: Coventry at home on Monday 19th, Chelsea away on the 24th, Crystal Palace at home on the 31st and Leeds away on 7 November. The man has chalked each date in a neat column beside the score, leaving space for the others to be predicted at a later stage.

He has also noted, correctly, that four of the next five matches are live on a Saturday, and has repositioned his flask accordingly so that it faces the direction of the television.

A light drizzle began shortly after noon. The man responded by holding a golf umbrella over the chalk with one hand and eating a sandwich with the other, in what witnesses described as a considered division of labour.

At the time of going to press the 2-2 was intact and he was awaiting the first goal.
