Season Ticket Holder Waits Outside Stadium With Boot Bag After Poyet Joins Spurs Training

Spurs Web reports that former midfielder Gus Poyet joined Roberto De Zerbi's squad at Hotspur Way ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Manchester United, and the gates have been shut since 6pm on Tuesday.
A Tottenham season ticket holder has stood outside the stadium since mid-morning on Wednesday holding a boot bag, having concluded from a Spurs Web report that invitations to first-team training are now issued on a rolling basis.
The report states that Gus Poyet joined De Zerbi's squad at Hotspur Way as they prepared for Saturday's Premier League fixture against Manchester United, with 15 players still returning from the international break. Footage was shared by the official club account.
The Herald understands the man has read the report in full, twice, and has noted that Poyet follows Dimitar Berbatov and Edgar Davids, who attended before the Nottingham Forest match, and a large August group of former players that included Hoddle, Mabbutt and Jennings. By his count that makes twenty-five names across three occasions.
It's a tradition now. They've done twenty-five. They'll have to start on the rest of us eventually.
He has never played for the club at any level, but described twenty-eight years of attendance as "the same thing, with more standing". He is understood to have prepared a short list of positions he can cover.
The bag contains one boot, a pair of shin pads, a flask and half an orange. A member of stadium staff who passed at 11:40am pointed out that the training ground is at Hotspur Way and not at the stadium. The man thanked him and said he was getting a feel for the place first.
He has also read Poyet's remarks to Spurs Web, in which the former player called De Zerbi's appointment a great one and said you need to wait. The man has taken the second part as direct advice and intends to follow it until Friday.
He has moved to the other side of the gate, where the light is better.
